There are a few key components of this machine that gear it towards commercial sharpeners, and genuine sharpening fanatics. The heavy duty vacuum base will stick hard to any flat surface, and has an adjustable work height feature that makes sharpening for long periods of time more comfortable.
It has a patented ramp system that allows the entire length of the stone to contact the edge when sharpening, this results in stones that stay flat longer, and last longer. The front stone holder is also spring loaded which makes changing stones fast and easy.

Top Notch.
I don't think there's much I can say about this sharpener that hasn't been said already if you read reviews here or just google it. In my opinion it's the best sharpening system available, so many aftermarket addons available. This system with the diamond matrix stone's does an amazing job. Edge pro also has great customer service, can't recommend this product enough!

I bought the Apex back in 10 after doing extensive research on knife sharpening systems. After recently taking a hand sharpening course, I quickly realized how difficult it is to hold a consistent angle. After 2 hours of frustration, I decided not to buy hand sharpening stones. Instead, I decided to upgrade to the Edge Pro Professional. That way I could keep all the same high-quality stones and have a more robust platform than the Apex. The Professional model is an engineering marvel. Solidly built with a simple design. While I don't plan on becoming a professional knife sharpener, I have a feeling I will be sharpening many knives for friends and family. Furthermore, Edge Pro's customer service puts other companies to shame. Whenever I have asked a question via email I have always received a prompt response. Very impressive. I look forward to many years of sharpening and hope to someday pass this Professional unit onto my son.

I originally was looking to buy a Tormek, but realized that I mainly wanted a sharpener for knives. I came across reviews of the Edge Pro system and not one person had a negative comment. I had experience using a Lansky sharpener years ago so I was a little skeptical knowing this was based on a similar concept. The difference I a m happy to say is night and day. I just have the 200 and 400, but plan in getting the 600 and 1000. These stones are just fine for me and I just put and nice edge on an SV30 with some light honing using the ceramic stone.

Found a cheap knock off on sale. Couldn't figure why Chinese would have something so well thought out and nice, then I found the real thing. There's never been a nicer system.

IMHO, the very best knife sharpener made. Period! Get a "Pro" and you'll take all of your other sharpening equipment to a garage sale and sell it.
