    Edge Pro Apex 1 kit

Posted by Jeffrey Bishop on Jan 29th 2024

This an awesome knife sharpening system. I purchased a couple of additional stones and the small knife adapter based on some YouTube recommendations. After watching videos on Edge Pro's YouTube page and others I was able to start off sharpening with amazing results. So glad I researched all kinds of systems and decided to purchase this one. Last sharpener I will ever need.

I have tried every cheap method to sharpen knives with poor results. This Apex knife sharpening system is the best. I got good sharp knives for the kitchen done in a short amount of time. Love it.

Absolutely the best sharpening system I have found, and IÕve tried many. I donÕt need to search any more. For first time sharpening of a knife I start with the coarse diamond, which cuts fast to get the edge at the right angle. For everything after that I use just the 220 and then the 400. I bought finer stones, but donÕt use them. I think I will be buying the super fine diamond for ceramic knives. I have a few, and they have been disappointments so far. If I can get them sharp I will be particularly happy.

Just purchased an Apex after using a friend's "clone" he purchased off e-bay. While the designs of both may be fundamentally similar, the performance and quality of both materials and construction are world's apart. The "clone's" stones do more harm than good (plastic backing instead of aluminum), the plastic used is fragile and brittle, and the parts don't move smoothly and consistently. The real Apex is a precision tool that, with care, will last a lifetime.

I purchased this several months ago and love it. Perfect control of edge angle. I find that resetting the angle is often needed for my older, field sharpened knives, and the knives of my friends, as we have "cheated" many times with our hand sharpening technique, resulting in a progressively more blunt edge. I recommend the coarse stone (120 grit) to reset the edge, but even a coarse stone takes a long time unless it has been freshly cleaned. The silicon carbide stone cleaning process is quick, and worth doing for a clean fast sharpening job. Once the edge angle has been properly set, it's nothing to keep a sharp and beautiful edge.

I purchased the Edge Pro Apex many years ago. It works exactly as advertised. I would highly recommend it.
