Well made, easy to assemble. With practice I'm sure that the process will become second nature.
After opening the apex and reading the instructions, I found a couple of videos that helped me understand the proper process.

Apex 2 Kit
This product works as advertised and as shown in the Edge Pro Videos. I am impressed with how efficiently this machine can put produce a sharp edge. It seems to be a quality machine and I would purchase it again knowing what I now know.

Perfect starter kit.
I opted for the APEX 2 Kit and also the small knife table attachment. Using the permanent marker and adjusting to the previous bevel of the blade I get razor sharpness with just a couple of light passes. I have always sharpened free hand with a diamond stone and followed up with an Arkansas stone. I hate dull knives. I appreciate the accuracy and ease of achieving it with EDGE PRO.

I have bough way too many feeble tools to sharpen knives, and then I heard of the Edge Pro product line. A little investigation was enough to convince me to invest. I just had my first sharpening session, starting with my 47 year old Swiss Army knife. A bit clumsy, but better than I have ever done before. I will be ordering the magnet and the slide guide to assist with multiple small-bladed knives. Next was a 20 year old cleaver. Wow! A bit of effort with the 220 grit, and then a touch up with the 400 and 600, and it cuts like never before. I am hooked! Very soon every kitchen knife will be reworked.

I did a lot of research on the internet and found this system. The Apex 2 is a good starter system as it does not cost too much but gets the job done. I now have upgraded and added more stones to my system to where i now have a "3". Not only does this system work extremely effectively, but it has a lifetime warranty! Ben is EXCELLENT in customer service. I had a problem with one of my hones and Ben sent me a new one completely free of charge. This system is expensive, but you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands!!
