I have been using the Apex Kit for five years, I have only positive impressions of it. Now I have purchased the BevelTech VB Kit. I was very impressed by the even stronger and more stable design with flexible and effective settings for more comfort: a Vacuum Base that easily adheres firmly to the dry laminated chipboard, Blade Table height/angle adjustment, a longer Stone Arm with a larger Knob, a Stone Arm stroke almost the entire length of the Sharpening Stone, excellent control of the sharpening angle and better fixation of knives with a double magnet. The BevelTech VB Kit is fully suitable for both routine professional work and for psychological relief (a kind of yoga) in the case of sharpening a small number of knives for own needs. Now I use the Apex Kit (with the Scissor Attachment) for sharpening scissors while sitting, and the BevelTech VB Kit for sharpening knives. Also, credit must be given to the excellent service and assistance from Ben and Cody. Regarding recommended options: the Slide Guide and 1700, 4000 Grit Matrix Sharpening Stones are something that is a must-have for greater comfort, quality, and aesthetics of knife sharpening.
