After doing mediocre sharpening for a long time I decided I wanted something better. This kit is absolutely excellent. In 45 minutes I took two average knives and put an outstanding edge on them. Not cheap but the results are worth every penny.

I thought there would be more of learning curve, but it is not that bad. A little like rubbing your tummy while patting your head at first, But after a little practice you get used to it. I practiced with "cheap" knives at first.(and even those came out pretty good.) Then I moved to my more expensive knives, Some with "super steels". M390, CPM-M4, ZDP-189, S35VN, VG-10, D2 and so on. They all came out unbelievably sharp! Not only sharp, But beautifully polished and even. Perfect! I have used other guided systems with great success, But this one is the best by far. It can do all knives of all sizes, all blade shapes and all grinds. With 2 small C-clamps and some imagination you can even sharpen scissors! Thanks Ben!

I bought this system because I live in the middle of nowhere and could not find a place to get my cooking knives sharp. I have been sharpening knives with hand stones for 30 years and do a good job at it, but I am used to having that perfect edge that can only be obtained by a professional sharpener. I researched for a while and finally decided on the edge pro system. I watched the videos, practiced on a couple of old knives I had in the garage, and then tackled my cooking knives. My cooking knives now have incredible edges and so do the knives of all my friends. I generally get a bottle of wine for my efforts, but if the demand keeps up, I am going to start charging folks. I didn't plan on becoming a professional knife sharpener, but word is getting out. If you want to get a really great edge on your knives, spring for this system. What good is having a $200 chef's knife if it has a $2 edge?

Holy Smokes. Just put a wicked edge on two Shun kitchen knives, and promptly cut myself. (my fault, used to having to push too hard with the old edges). I sent the knives out to be sharpened previously. It cost $25 per session, took two weeks, and the job was no where near as good. I have also just deposited my gatco Sharpening system into the garbage for good - good riddance! Very seldom do you get what you pay for in this economy, but the Edge Pro delivers.

I have had this a few years now and this sharpens like no other. Once I set the angles resharpening is quick and easy. The edges hold longer then ever too. The more I have used it, the faster I am a sharpening. It is not easier, but this works much better then the diamond grinders.

I bought this system a few years ago. Back then, I had finally invested in a quality japanese kitchen knife. I wanted a way to easily sharpen the knife, without worrying about messing up the angle. I needed a sharpener that was the same quality as the knife. EdgePro is the real deal. Easy to use, exactly the same results every time, I love using it. Friends ask me to sharpen their knives after using mine. (nice carry case, I can easily take it with me, very organized) Several years later, I'm still amazed with this thing. My knives have been sharp ever since. Thanks EdgePro!

I'll just keep it short and sweet, for this price its impossible to beat this sharpening system. The edge pro is one of the best if not the best sharpening systems available today.

Excellent! Lives up to everything good that I have read and seen on the internet. There is a learning curve but it is not steep and with diligence the fundamentals can be mastered in a day. If you can't put a very good edge on any knife with this system then you should stop messing with knives altogether. The instructional videos are very easy to follow and nicely done. I hope we will see more videos in the future addressing issues that users have had. I have no reservations, if you want sharp knives then this is the way to go. This system works and it works well.

outstanding product most promining knife sharpener I have ever used.I do claime to know a little about sharp blades as I have installed floor covering for over 40 years. Some of the knives I have used are a replacement blade but some are not.I will say it did take a while to learn to sharpen a blade freehand but it can be done and done well. But this remarkable little machine makes it so very easy and I am not so leary about my high dollar knives being used.Way to go Ben and thank you.

Stupid easy, stupid fast. Stupid for not getting one years ago. My free-hand sharpening skills were decent at the minimum, sometimes good, so I put this purchase off for a long time. Finally as funds allowed, I got one out of curiosity. This device gets top notch results every single time, and quickly too. I feel like a serious idiot for not getting it sooner. No doubt that the EdgePro Apex is better than me, and far more consistent--especially when you flip the knife over and sharpen with your off-hand. It’s so good at doing what it does, I’m not even sure why the thing is priced so modestly. Considering that several of my better made waterstone blocks made for hand sharpening run $80, the EdgePro Apex seems like a bargain.

As a Chef I use a knive 3 to 4 hours a day and I couldn't sharpen a knife if my life depended on it. I had $1000 worth of dull knives and was about to invest another $250 on another Mac knife when I saw a review of the Apex Sharpening system on a web site. I bought the Apex 4 system instead of another knife. The first day I used the system I had sharpened all my knives to better than new as well as the knives of my fellow co-workers. Best purchase of culinary equipment I have made to date. A must have in any kitchen where sharp knives make life easier and more efficient. Great porduct.
