This thing is just what I needed. Gettin a little older and a touch arthritic in my hands. Been sharpening by hand for years, but now it hurts after a couple of minutes of freehand whetting. Glad I bought the Edge Pro. I was skeptical, as I had tried lesser (cheaper) products in the past. By the time I got through with the second knife, I was back online ordering more stones from Edge Pro, for replacements if I ever manage to wear these out. I am proud to be able to get a knife scary sharp freehand, now I can do it pain-free and very quickly with this tool. Thanks, guys!

I recommend this Apex 4 Kit! I have been sharpening for many years using the Tormek grinder, partly as a business. I also use a 1x30 belt sander with the Tormek jigs but on knife blades it´s still real easy to end up with dips or uneven edges. The Apex has many things going for it; it´s really portable and its clean - no noise, no dust, no burned edges. Ridgid stones are much easier to control than a loose sanding belt at speed. If you pay attention and use the supplied cloth there is also very little mess. It´s fast enough to be efficient but slow enough to give excellent control of the edge. Major reshaping is perhaps still best done on powered equipment, but normal sharpening is a joy on the Apex. The edges get SO sharp. I can get hair popping edges with either of my systems but using the Apex is by far the most enjoyable and gives the most even edges. I doubt anyone would let me use the belt sander in their kitchen spewing grit and dust everywhere, but the Apex can be used in the living room. The support and instructions are top notch!

I have used this for a little over a year, and this is the only sharpening system I have found that I can take a dull knife and make it scary sharp. I have always been able to touch up sharp knifes but with this you can take a knife from drag across your hand dull to filet paper sharp.

I brought the product from a local Finnish reseller and I have to say that the product exceeded my expectations. It is very easy to use and I was able to sharpen my knives to hair splitting sharpness during the first time I used the product. And I am quite novice when it comes to sharpening even though I can perform free hand sharpening. The product is expensive, but it does deliver what it promises. Good product.

Love this thing!! I "Had" a few hunting and fishing knives that to say the least were difficult to sharpen. With the Edge Pro system I can easily put an edge that is "Scary" sharp on all of them!

Wow! I received my new Apex system as a gift and I've been working with it for a couple of days. After watching Ben's video over and over and over I finally dove right in with a knife that had not been sharpened in a while. I'm amazed at how easy the system is to use but more amazed at how well it works! I am a culinary student and have lots of old and new knives. I have a long way to go before I am 100% confident in what I am doing, but so far I am really impressed. I will be recommending this to my school and my chef instructors. Once I get better at it I will take it to school and do a demo for them. Thanks Ben for a great product!

After a long journey of making knifes worthless and many "This is the one" sharpening systems I found Apex 4. The unit allows me to put the ind of edge on my knifes I have always wanted to. Easy to use and well made. I now hand out band aids with the knifes I sharpen for people. Enough research on the internet and you will find a great system

This is a close to perfect for sharpening kitchen knives that I have used! I have a fairly large set of Wusthof chefs knives , carvers, slicers, paring, utility and steak knives. I started sharpening these freehand and realized I would have limited success not being able to hold the angle consistently. I also tried a couple of higher end knife sharpening systems which clamp the knife in place. I had inconsistent results with those because I had to constantly clamp and unclamp my 6 to 12" chefs knives. The burr was inconsistent and it was a lot of work just clamping and unclamping. It also left a mark after a while where I clamped. I figured there must be a better way. I found and purchased the Edge Pro Apex and I couldn't be happier! This system allows me to move the knife freely as I sharpen creating a consistent bur along the edge. I can alternate from side to side sharpening both sides without clamping. I have found it is much faster and is much more consistent. I modified my profile to use a dual angle 20/15 degrees per Ben's instructions and it works perfectly and is considerably sharper than the Wusthof factory edge. Now when I re-sharpen there is a much smaller edge to sharpen. It is also easier to hone with the steel and keep sharp between sharpenings. I highly recommend!

I wanted the Edge Pro sharpener for a long time but just couldn't justify the expense. Then my wife bought it for me as a christmas gift. A week later I've sharpened all our knives and some for firends. the polishing tapes were something I never thought I'd use. But they put such a lovely mirror finish on the blades of my expensive folding knives that I really like them. There is a "Zen" aspect to sharpening knives that appeals to me. It's hard t explain, but it makes me happy to have a keen edge on the blade; and to know that I can maintain it myself. Now I want the round glass and silicon carbide sand to resurface the sharpening stones. I know I will need them. My one regret is that the Apex system won't sharpen scissors. (You'll need the Pro system for that). But I love this tool. Scary sharp knives on every blade.
