Magnetizing the blade table can be an effective way of stabilizing the knife while sharpening. It can really speed the learning curve up for beginners allowing them to focus more attention on creating a perfect edge and less attention on holding the knife steady.
You may find the occasional knife where the magnetism will hinder your ability to sharpen. So instead of permanently attaching the magnet under the table, we found a way that allows the user to quickly and easily activate and deactivate the magnet by raising and lowering it, no tools required. Use the magnetic knife sharpener when it's helpful, lower the magnet when it's not. Quick and simple. Just the way we like it.
Installing the Edge Pro Apex table magnet accessory on new machines is VERY simple. The housing press fits (tightly) under the table. For older models, you may have to replace the leg screws (which will be provided) to make room for the magnet.

The magnet is very nice and holding the knife to the table. Not necessarily the face of the blade to the table but the flat part of the blade to the table. I am brand new to sharpening and this is the first jump off into my experience. The man that I had sharpening my knives for the last few years uses this and doesn’t extremely great job. The apostle. P. Anyway, my wife thought it would be a good idea for me to have the sharpening system so I could sharpen my own knives. Truthfully, I’d much rather have him do it. He does some very good job, but I think with some practice I will become adequate .

Good Accessory
Despite reviewing instructions and videos, I have trouble securing various sizes and shapes of kitchen knives to the table and getting good results. This little addition does exactly what it says. It's much easier to stabilize the blade on the table and apply my attention to the rest of the sharpening process. I am getting sharper blades quicker and easier.

Game Changer
Not gonna lie, I wasn't super enthused with the Apex at first. If there's one area where the Apex lacks, it's how annoying it is to hold the blade as you sharpen. This fixes that. Holds the blade solid for one-handed operation, so whether you have a physical disability or are just tired after breaking rocks all day, it's like 30% of the effort to use the system. Should come standard, it's that good. Sharpening is now a breeze.

I love this magnet and it's brilliant being able to disengage the way you do. Installs like Lego, kinda. Its a great at supporting the blade and stability. Strong magnet. When you don't need it just disengage it. With that sliding 2 point clamp and the magnet the blade is pretty much superglued to the worksurface. It's great. You need this.
